Never picked up a chisel before? Haven’t touched a hand tool since school? Perfect. This class is designed as a friendly introduction to woodworking — whether you’re curious about a new hobby or just want a fun, hands-on day out.
By the end of the day, you’ll not only have a finished stand to take home, but also the confidence and basic skills to explore more woodworking projects in the future.
What you’ll learn:
We’ll start by getting to know essential hand tools and giving you a brief overview of how they’re used. Then, with your prepared timber, we’ll cover:
- How to read the grain and choose timber
- Introduction to key woodworking machinery
- Marking out and cutting joints (mortice & tenon + halving joint)
- Gluing, assembly, and clamping
- Surface prep and finishing techniques
