One day taster course, make a stool!
Have you ever wanted to have a go at wood working? Was the last time you touched a hand-tool in the workshop at school? This one day introduction course is the one for you! Designed with the intention of being a gateway to further woodworking experiences, this course will introduce you to the common hand tools and woodworking machinery you are likely to encounter while developing your skills.
The day will begin with a general health and safety discussion, followed by exploring different types of hand tools and a brief overview of what they are used for. Next, you will start looking at different types of timber, their defining features and most common uses and how to read the grain. Which leads nicely on to learning about some of the machinery in the workshop and beginning (and completing after lunch!) a small project to take home... an interesting and historically inspired three legged stool called a cutlers stool!
This course costs £180 (or £165 with Double Up!), which includes a light lunch at either the on-site cafe or local pub and all materials required.
This course is eligible for our ‘Double Up!’ option. At checkout, choose whether you would prefer to attend this course alone, or that you are happy to double up with another person. It can be arranged for a date that suits both parties.
