Learn how to sharpen and set up hand planes and chisels
A sharp tool is a safe tool!
If you have some experience with woodworking, but have never tried (or struggle with) sharpening a blade to razor sharpness, this is the course for you. Intended to teach you how to use a water stone grinder, abrasive films, diamond stones and Japanese water stones, this course will develop your ability to maintain chisel and plane blades at ideal sharpness.
During the day, you will learn how to sharpen chisels and plane irons to razor sharpness, and how to tune up hand planes and block planes so they can perform optimally. Ideally, you will have some of your own tools to bring along to set up, but there will be a selection of tools on hand for you to try.
This course costs £180 (or 165 with Double Up!), which includes a light lunch at either the onsite cafe or local pub and all materials.
This course is eligible for our ‘Double Up!’ option. At checkout, choose whether you would prefer to attend this course alone, or that you are happy to double up with another person. It can be arranged for a date that suits both parties.
