Get hands on with a wide variety of tools and make your own cutlers stool!

Introducing the Taster For Two...
Have you ever wanted to have a go at wood working? Was the last time you touched a hand-tool in the workshop at school? This one day introduction course is the one for you! Designed with the intention of being a gateway to further woodworking experiences, this course will introduce you to the common hand tools and woodworking machinery you are likely to encounter while developing your skills.
The day will begin exploring different types of hand tools and a brief overview of what they are used for. Next, you will start looking at the sawn timber provided to make the stool from, we look at defining features and most common uses and how to read the grain, then set up and begin processing the timber with a hand plane.
This leads nicely on to learning about some of the larger machinery in the workshop whilst producing an interesting and historically inspired three legged stool called a cutlers stool!
Some of the tools you’ll use:
• Hand plane
• Table saw
• Planer thicknesser
• Pillar drill
• Hand held drill
• Marking out tools
• Japanese saw
• Router
• Sander
• Tenon cutter
A Taster for Two Course costs £330.00, this includes a light lunch at either the on-site cafe or local pub and all materials.
The course usually starts between 9:30-10:00 and tends to finish (with a pair of super stools!) around 5/6.
This course can be arranged for a date that suits both parties.
