The New Year is well underway in the workshop, last week the first commission of the year was completed. An Oak and Walnut Christening box. This box features handcut dovetail joints, the photo below shows the joints being cut. Next it was all glued together... Then the joints were cleaned up with a small block plane. The next stage was to plane to size the walnut lid, then the fitting of the brass lock and hinges followed by inlaying the walnut escutcheon. Sanding and oiling were the last steps to completing the box. There it is the finished piece! I am now busy working on another oak commission, a contemporary Morris chair!

Happy New Year! The last few months of 2014 were pretty hectic with a trade order, hence no recent updates.
